Daniel Molloy
Investigative Journalist and Author
Daniel Molloy is an award-winning investigative journalist and author. His work has appeared in almost every major English language publication over the last half-century. HATE AND ASHBURY, his brutally honest memoir, redefined the genre. He has two adult daughters and lives in Brooklyn, New York.
First impressions
Visual
Half-Armenian. Formerly black curly hair has gone salt with a hint of pepper. Short and skinny but wears lifts and has the kind of energy and posture that takes up space. Kind green-grey eyes; eyebags and crows feet; wears glasses to look at documents and screens but takes them off for intense emotional moments - sometimes to connect, sometimes to have something to do with his hands. Long fingers, Parkinsons shake. An old bite scar on his neck. (In Saltburn, some of these details have changed: see his vampire permissions.)
Aural
If you've ever watched any Anthony Bourdain you know exactly the kind of New York intonation Daniel speaks with. He has a casual register, but rarely uses filler words, thinking before he speaks. He's often accusatory and direct. Swears a little, but not as much as you'd think. Has a writer's vocabulary but only uses it on the page or when he's really pissed off.
Fashion
Daniel's look hasn't changed a lot since the 70s, where he wore leather jackets, Henleys, denim jeans, and heeled boots. These days the cuts are more modern and he sprinkles in some comfort in his old age, cardigans and jumpers, rock band tshirts, thick-knit scarves. He doesn't dress in brand names or with a particular eye to fashion, and he mostly sticks to a blue-grey pallete. Sleeps in boxers and a singlet. Knows how to wear black tie couture if he's absolutely gotta. His glasses are frameless and expensive, and he always wears a decent watch with a leather strap; he otherwise wears no jewellery.

Always open to be tagged by characters from any canon and any medium, so long as you're okay with Daniel being an American boomer from a high-realism canon. OCs, AUs, etc are also welcome. I would prefer not to play "face twin" confusion.
Shipping/Smut
Yes! If we have good writing chemistry I can be convinced of any ship, and I really enjoy smutty content with characters who are bad for each other or won't ultimately work out.
Daniel is a deeply closeted queer man, emotionally detached and twice-divorced. He has a disease that causes erectile dysfunction. He is also likely to be shy about prurient interest in or from anyone younger than his daughters (in their thirties).
I can also play Daniel in his slutty early 20s if you're a coward.

Fighting/Violence
Yes. Daniel is a human with no special powers. Player is fine with him being injured or dying. In Saltburnt, he has vampire powers and the protection of his close CR, so please check in!
Mind-Reading/Powers
Sure; I can provide additional info on request. He had his memories altered about 40 years ago so it might be a mess in there! Daniel will be angry if he finds out his privacy is being invaded.
Content Warnings for Character
Daniel is dying of Parkinsons disease. He is from 2022 and has strong, canonical opinions on real world politics, including COVID-19. His language around lgbtq+ terms can be old-fashioned. In the 70s he did a lot of drugs, and did sex work to fund his addiction, and ended up in some dubious situations that he has mostly depersonalized from or memoryholed. Also, he comes from a vampire canon and studies vampires which means discussion of immortality, blood-drinking, and murder.
Timezone and Tag Availablity
Australian (+10 GMT). Fast tagger forced by chronic illness and timezones to be a slow tagger. I don't mind backtagging for a few weeks. Happy to handwave slice of life stuff with established CR but prefer anything important "on the page" and will prioritize CR that writes with me.
Formatting Preferences
Third person present tense. I love texting and actionspam for dialogue heavy interactions, and prose for more emotional or physical stuff. Sometimes I accidentally switch, sorry, I'll fix it if you poke me. While I am always available to plot what actions come next, I'm not very good at predicting my character's emotional reactions or tone. I love improvisation and unexpected developments and going where the characters take us.
Threadhopping
Texts/network: sure, if the thread isn't private. Logs: ask me, ask my partner.
Fourthwalling
I don't mind it if the tone is comedic and in the narration (ala Deadpool) but otherwise I'd prefer not.
Content Warnings for Player
I need a warning before vivid descriptions of child abuse/csa land in my inbox (and may need time to read the tag). If a character's whole deal is inextricable from trauma that is too similar to my own I may need to opt out, no hard feelings. In addition, I have a hard limit on rping as a sexual predator or rapist, including ooc jokes about it. (I won't need cw for general discussion of rape.)
